Students and staff at the Bertolt Brecht School in Berlin Wedding are celebrating the opening of a brand new soccer field, named in honor of the legendary socialist author and playwright. The new field, which was officially unveiled last week, is the result of months of hard work and fundraising by the school community, and provides a much-needed space for students to engage in physical activity and team sports.
Bertolt Brecht, who is best known for his plays such as "The Threepenny Opera" and "Mother Courage and Her Children," was a committed socialist and a strong believer in the power of education to transform society. The decision to name the new soccer field after him reflects the school's commitment to upholding his values and promoting social justice and equality.
The new soccer field is a state-of-the-art facility, featuring high-quality artificial turf, floodlights, and seating for spectators. It will be used for physical education classes, after-school sports clubs, and community events, providing a valuable resource for the school and the wider neighborhood.
